Providence Quartet

I was born June 1, 1963… the last of 5 boys. My mom and dad Jim and Beverly Coutsos were very devoted parents. My mom was my inspiration into southern gospel music. Mom always sang in the choir and she was a very good alto. One night she was playing an album by the Happy Goodman Family and the song “Looking for a City” was playing. I remember hearing Johnny Cook singing that song and I just fell in love with the music. As a teenager I fell in love with the bass singers and that started my desire to sing bass. My three favorite bass singers are: George Younce, Ray Reese and Tim Riley. I’m so thankful that all three of these men spent time at concerts talking to me when I was full of questions. I have been singing bass now for around 10 years and I still love quartets as much now as I did then.

My greatest love of all is being a dad. God blessed me with a beautiful daughter, Amber. I will never forget the first time I held her in my arms. Time just seemed to stand still. Thank you God for her and the meaning she has brought into my life. I would relive everyday again with Amber if I could.

I don’t have words to describe how honored I am to be a part of Providence Quartet. It is such an honor and a pleasure to go out week after week and minister through music. I have never and will never take for granted the friends that I have made through our travels. I am still as excited before concerts as I was when I started. There is nothing like being a part of helping make a change in someone’s life. Thank God for allowing me to be a part of such a wonderful group. I’m nothing more than a man, and I make mistakes like anyone who is reading this, but I’m so thankful that I serve a loving and forgiving God.

In my down time I enjoy frisbee golf, cooking, (yes cooking), and the coast. The ocean always reminds me of how small I really am. I love meeting and getting to know people. I don’t think of people I don’t know as strangers, they are friends I haven’t met.

Please always pray for Providence Quartet and our ministry. Our friends are very important to us.
