Providence Quartet

My father, George Shelton Sr., taught all eight of his children to sing. We would go all over the country and sing to thousands of people and minister thru song. I learned a lot from my dad and my older brothers and sisters (I'm the baby) about singing just by watching how they acted and reacted in different situations in life.

Singing southern gospel music is not only something I enjoy doing, it is a calling on my life! Ever since I was a little boy, all I have ever known is getting on a bus and going to sing. I found out it was more than just "singing" when after many years of gospel ministry, I realized I was lost and needed Jesus to be Lord of my life. My talents, my desires and my whole heart were surrendered to His service.

When we formed PQ back in 2005 none of us had any idea how mightily God would use this ministry to impact people’s lives. It is awesome to see people come to the alter and surrender their lives to God because of a song we sang for them thru the Holy Spirits leading. After leaving to sing with Ed O’Neal and Dixie Melody Boys in 2007, the Lord opened the door for me to return to PQ in 2010. The guys I sing with in Providence are not just people I know, we are all great friends. I feel that singing with my friends is truly where I belong.

Our families are an asset to what we do. Each of us have the full support of our wives, children, mother, fathers, friends…..etc. My family and friends have been by my side and faithfully attend most every singing when we are close to home. It really feels good to sing and see the people that love you smiling back at you.
